Meet Oats and George
Meet two locals, Oats and George—our buggy horsepower during a little break from work this afternoon. We took a short jaunt to an Amish dairy farm, and it was such a gorgeous day. The land here is so green and fertile!
The farm grew corn, alfalfa—when we were there the farmers were working with the corn. They piled horse-drawn carts 15 feet high with corn plants, and toss it by hand into a machine that sucks it into some sort of silo thing. Yeah, I wasn't paying enough attention, I was just fascinated by the amount of work they do that technology could help with! But . . . I have to admire the Amish desire to keep their focus on God. They don't use electricity because it could make them lazy; they don't allow pictures to be taken of themselves because it's considered vanity; they don't educate past the 8th grade so people don't get filled with pride; we can argue with whether those things are good or bad, but I love their desire to keep their eyes on what is important!

Ahhh, to be so simple would be nice.. Thank you for sharing George and oats with us...
I so wish I was there!!! Oats and George are definately 'my kind of people'!! LOL!!! They don't talk back, Don't give you lip (well, some do curl theirs up!), and appreciate a little scratch behind the ears!
