Tutorial: Slider Card
This is an adaptation of a card I saw somewhere a long long time ago; I don't claim credit for the original idea, but I made my own template from the sketch I drew of a sample I saw once. If you're the originator, let me know, I'd love to thank you! I've been making these cards for a couple years now and have really enjoyed them. I love fancy openings!
Step one: Cut the outside piece, total size 4.25 x 11. See the measurements listed (click on the template to see it larger), cutting on solid lines, and folding on dotted lines. I printed it on the blank side of the patterned paper I used.

Step two: Cut the other pieces: A is the one you just cut; B is the part that will pull the card open, measures 4.75 x 2.5; C is for the inside of the card, 4 x 5.25; D is the front piece, and measures 3.25W x 3H.
Step three: Mark on pieces B and C the areas you have to embellish; place C inside of the card (without any gluing yet) and draw a light pencil window for yourself by pushing up the slider portion to reveal the space. Line up B at the edge of the slider portion and slide them up to show how much space you have, and mark that as well.

Step four: Embellish as desired.
Step five: Line up piece C so it shows through the window as desired, and glue it down. While piece A is open, take piece B, turn it upside down, and glue it to the short panel on the end of the slider. Glue that panel only or it won't slide!

Step six: Glue along the two sides of the card to adhere the front to the back, staying away from gluing any other portion of B as you do. The slider should pull gently to lift the panel up to reveal panel C below. Glue piece D to the portion of the card indicated in the photo---that center section only.

THANK YOU for this tutorial. i used your ideas and made my own card. please visit my blog and see it! (blog title is moving card slider and date is 4-26-08).
